Day 1Cusco - Km.82 - Wayllabamba

Km 82:

Day 4Wiñay Wayna - Inti Punku - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes - Cusco

The fourth and final day of your 4 Day Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is the climax of your unforgettable adventure. Waking up early at your Wiñay Wayna campsite, situated at 2,650 meters (8,692 feet), you’ll enjoy a quick breakfast before setting off under the cover of darkness.

Your goal is to reach the Sun Gate, or Inti Punku, on time. This is for the magical moment when the first rays of sunlight illuminate the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu.

As you make your way along the trail, you’ll cover a distance of approximately 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) in roughly 2 hours. You will be hiking through the misty cloud forest as the anticipation builds. Upon arrival at Inti Punku (2,720 meters/8,924 feet), the sight of Machu Picchu, nestled among the towering peaks, will take your breath away.

Machu Picchu Tour:

After taking in the awe-inspiring view from the Sun Gate, you’ll descend to the entrance of Machu Picchu. It is located at 2,430 meters (7,972 feet) above sea level. With your knowledgeable guide, you’ll embark on a 2-hour tour of the iconic site. You will be exploring its well-preserved buildings, terraces, and plazas.
